In fact, one of the things I most admire about the script is that it clearly depicts Kopechne as an immensely talented woman whose life was tragically cut short, as opposed to "bimbo" portrayal given to her by the media at the time. There was some strange behavior by the lead character and his mother. I will try to keep it simple, without spoilers. Not only did this event take the life of an aspiring political strategist and Kennedy insider, but it ultimately changed the course of presidential history forever. I was able to connect with the characters, felt their emotions and had the ability to empathize with them. I can only assume that it is one of those movies that you want to watch a couple of times, but never get tired of. The story line is also pretty interesting, with the Japanese captain making his family go through hell, trying to stay true to his ideals, while being in love with the American young lady.
