Welcome to Friday favorites where I share all the fun things I found this week. Its very nice to have a park right in front to go chill at early morning and late at night. Once upon a time, Ryan and I were biology research partners and had to come out to this part of the island to take water samples. But you know what? There’s more focus on the contents of the house  than the Williams’ story, and you can’t see the entire home (or take photos), but it’s definitely worth doing the short tour.

Beware during summer- the one road that leads to Tybee is often a two-lane parking lot. centrally located within very close walking distance to many of the attractions and great restaurants that Savannah has to offer . That changed on Super Museum Sunday.

Lost your password? It was kind of weird, knowing you’re walking into a church with so much history and family history. I worked on this one for a while trying to find the right balance between elegance and boldness. “Life is like a box of chocolates” echoed through my head as I navigated my way around the small square where Forrest Gump sat on his famous park bench in the 1994 blockbuster film of the same name. Besides providing locations for a few scenes in the Tom Hanks film, Savannah got a revival on the tourist route when the book (and the movie shortly after) Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was released. Almost any image search for Savannah will render a picture of this iconic green spot with its famous antique fountain. Savannah is a unique city, rich in culture, history, tradition...and an amazing, explosive amalgam of foodie finds and eats!

Savannah has one of the country’s most famous dive bars, one of the oldest bars in the US and one of the most haunted hotels in America  (plus shrimp and grits!) It was one of several created for the film, but it’s the real deal (for a movie prop) and you can take a photo standing next to it. At the beginning of March, Lizzy, one of her coworkers, and I went thrifting on Hilton Head! The exhibit runs through the end of March, and it’s really worth a stop if you’re here. Thanks for sticking with me, again. Sometimes, we’re just lazy like that. This house was used in the Clint Eastwood produced film as well as the movies “Glory” and. But hey, they still played it. When you’re in Savannah, and you drive from downtown toward Tybee Island, you’ll pass signs for Fort Jackson. So what else could you ask for? Bethesda’s been through a lot over the years, and they’ve done a fantastic job of documenting the place and the people that have made it what it is. Ironically, the cemetery’s famous statue of “The Bird Girl” from the MITGOGAE novel  has been relocated to one of the Telfair museums due to vandalism. And Rob Thomas makes the best facial expressions ever.

Even though Ebenezer is only an hour or so outside of Savannah, I’ve actually never been. March is kind of a big deal in Savannah, and not just because it’s my birth month. Callie Beale is a fine art photographer serving the Savannah GA area. What to wear for a family session. Yeah. But after lunch, we did something completely non-food related.

We headed down to our closest beach town- Tybee Island. He didn’t want to play with anyone. Yeah, all I could find was a teapot. All of those thoughts are totally valid, because Ryan and I both shared them for the past umpteen years of living in Savannah. You’ll also find sporting areas and a theater for outdoor shows. The historic area includes the riverfront on the Savannah river , the nearby market area and extends to Forsythe Park. They’re in charge of 10 middle school boys (in addition to their toddler!)

My money was on the seagulls for the battle for school lunch. It was never a real bench, but a movie prop made of fiberglass so that it could easily be moved during filming. The fountain was ordered from a mail catalog a century and a half ago and has somehow survived wars and hurricanes and remained the most photographed spot in the city. I can’t wait to see what they find. Also? We might have a festival and a parade and stuff.
