Dissertation: after passing the University Oral Qualifying Examination, students may be advanced to candidacy and commence work on a dissertation in the principal field of study.

Once all your application materials have been received and processed you will receive an e-mail notice from the Fielding School of Public Health’s Student Affairs Office that your application is complete and being forwarded to the department for review. The student must complete the minimum course requirements to the satisfaction of the Guidance Committee before taking the Examination.

The deadline for submissions to be funded in fall will be announced to affiliate members every year; usually it is in April/May for Fall quarter funding. For the most up-to-date information, please consult the registrar’s office.
Although not required for admission, research-related as well as applied work experience in the field is viewed favorably when competing applications are judged. Post-doctoral fellows also have the option of pursuing a Masters degree in the UCLA Department of Health Policy and Management, and most tuition and fees are covered during the fellowship.
