This excellent juvenile book provides readers a solid overview of U.S. emancipation beginning with slaves who were freed following their service in the Revolutionary War. She takes us through the beginnings of slavery to the emancipation of the slaves after the Civil War. While the text is interesting, all the pictures are in sepia making it not as interesting.
