During a conversation with my friend Nadia Gasper, a London-based writer and story consultant, she rightly pointed out that much of the then-recent galvanization and discourse around racial inequality in the United States had overlooked the rampant struggles for Blacks living elsewhere, namely in England. Back in June, Jorja Smith revealed her latest single “By Any Means,” which was the singer’s response to the resurgent Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of recent violence at the hands of law enforcement. According to the announcement, “Reprise,” a collection of songs curated by Roc Nation, is a forthcoming initiative, comprised of multiple artists uniting to let their voices be heard in musical protest.
